Mike Robbins
Design Engineer – Hazardous
Area Systems and Equipment
The grandson of a blacksmith, engineering
was in Mike’s blood. After leaving school, his apprenticeship
as a fitter machinist in Sydney gave him a firm grounding
in all aspects of fitting and machining. National service
followed for two years before Mike was appointed as a trainee
engineer with Henley Forklifts adding to his expertise
in mobile materials handling equipment. Joining Chess
in 1980, he became more involved with materials handling,
in particular hazardous area protection of forklifts.
Recognised as an industry leader in the field, Mike has worked closely with Standards
Australia committees and NSW WorkCover over the years and has earned a reputation
as a leading authority on hazardous area protection of mobile materials handling
equipment.
